The likes of Caracal and Plainsunset attracted me to the poster. No wait, perhaps it’s the venue. But the prices are ticking me off just fine.
I think I’ll try to get hold of Plainsunset’s album first. Now where can I find it hmmm? Straits Records?

I’ve been awaiting his new album since I got sick of hearing people singing to I’m Yours everywhere. So when I finally got to hear his new collection, I’d say… some things just never change.
Don’t ask why he has such a weird album cover but I feel that it resembles him quite nicely - weird. One of my favourite tracks has to be Lucky which he collaborated with Colbie Caillat (I embedded it above). Soothing, meaningful, nice… and radio-friendly. So be prepared for it to be requested pretty often on the airwaves.
Some tracks have been given his trademark motormouth treatment and I particularly like those which he injects dry humour into them. This guy can practically sing his daily life and it’ll still sound nice!
And did you just realize what I just realized? It’s such a deja vu feeling that Jason did a song with Cobbie. Remember Tristan Prettyman? Cobbie is somewhat similar to Tristan isn’t she? She plays the guitar, has this humble aura except that maybe she doesn’t surf.
It’s such a strange coincidence that the chorus of Lucky has the phrase ‘Lucky I’m in love with my best friend…”.
So Mr A-Z, do you think you and Colbie Caillat are compatible with each other… you know, as a couple?

Mraz? I still prefer Tristan Prettyman. I can go goo-goo-ga-ga over her anytime.
Some things just never change.
For the first time in a few years, I bought myself an album. A music album. Jamie Scott’s.
The last time I remembered getting one, it was from Popular bookstore and a compilation of rock songs - Modern Rock 2 - where you’ll find the tunes of Linkin Park’s Crawling and Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavoured Water.
Since (not) downloading was considered (not) cool back then, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and shared my love my music with many other people. Well hey, who doesn’t like free stuff right?

Anyway a short visit to Gramophone just now made me zoomed to Jamie Scott’s album while Babe was eyeing on Adele’s. Perhaps yesterday’s introduction to his “Standing in the Rain” made me want to hear more of him.
The album was discounted to $16.90 but a quick check on other racks caught my attention.
The very same album and now it costs $9.90 ONLY! A 5-second time lapse couldn’t have possibly prompted a drop in prices right? This is not Wall Street! But upon closer inspection it has Chinese characters scribbled on the album cover which I thought urm okay, they must have Chinese-fied Jamie Scott’s songs.
So I checked with a staff and he said it was lower-priced ’cause it was manufactured in another country (cheap labour, I thought?). He warned me that the sound quality may be a bit different but being the cheapskate me, I don’t really care…
’cause now I’m listening to Jamie Scott’s album which I think is perfectly fine. At the price of $10. English as it is.
Sheesh I’m on the hunt for cheap albums now. Chinese-fied, Indian-fied, Malay-fied also can lah!
It’s good to bloghop, as I found out. Not only you get to see others’ point-of-view on the most oblivious things but sometimes as you browse through their archives, you find some interesting reads.
And one of them - surprisingly a common topic on blogs - is how most of these bloggers hate Smoove so much. FYI Smoove is a room in the Ministry of Sound (MOS) that constantly pumps out R&B hits, which is a hit amongst the youths. It’s ironic isn’t it for youths to dislike something that’s set aside specifically for them?

But as I soon realized, their common topic brought about a common reason for their dislike too, believe it or not, is the fact that there are so many Malays in that room.
Actually I was shocked too when I first stepped into Smoove some time ago. I thought if the Malays don’t congregate at Geylang Serai, they’d be creating a ruckus around the Esplanade area but much to my disappointment, they are right here! *points to Smoove*
I was listening to the radio, as always every night, when the trailer for 987fm’s “New This Week” came on air. Usually I’ll hear new music, or rather those that I never heard of before, being played in this trailer. Occasionally, they are just old songs that seemed to be stuck in the DJ’s console.
Like how Rihanna’s Don’t Stop The Music, Umbrella and Hate That I Love You goes on national airwaves on a 3-weeks interval when the fact is that they all come from the same album.
But this week’s list of new songs was a shocker. First was a snippet of Mika’s Lollipop. Not literally though. Okay, he already had Big Girl (You Are Beautiful), Happy Ending and Grace Kelly so I can assume that people will be sick of his high-pitched voice if it comes on too often. I can close one eye on this.
The next tune strike a somewhat familiar tune that I hear almost every other day…
Love hurts, but sometimes it’s a good hurt
’cause it feels like I’m alive
Oh c’mon, gimme a break! Love Hurts was out eons ago and have been my message tone since last year! And it made to the airwaves just this week?
Just because Incubus is coming down next month huh?
