But I hope her talkshow continues to run… and be aired in Singapore. I don’t like the women-sided Tyra Banks, or information-laden Oprah Winfrey but that casual, laid-back and full of tongue-in-cheeks kind of Ellen Degeneres fits me just fine.

How old is Ellen again? 50? Right. Life starts at 50 and never ends till it really does.

It has been a damn long time since I did that, especially on a Malay song.

MUCH has been said about fare-cheating passengers in buses. There is another type of fare cheaters - those who take the MRT. These are the ones who board the train at the station before the last one on the route. They do not alight at the last station, but remain in the trains and continue their journey when the train starts again.

I have observed that this occurs in two stations - Tampines and Raffles Place. Those who board the train at Tampines remain in their seats at Pasir Ris and continue their journey towards Boon Lay. Similarly, those who board at Raffles Place do not alight at Marina Bay, but continue their journey in the same train towards Jurong East.

As this happens during peak hours, those who are waiting for the trains at Pasir Ris to proceed towards Boon Lay and those at Raffles Place waiting to proceed towards Jurong East are put to hardship. The trains are almost fully occupied and they have to wait for the next train to get a seat - provided that the train too is also not filled up by these free-riders.

Secondly, these people are not only enjoying a free ride at the expense of those who are paying the full fare, but they are also preventing the fare-paying passengers from having a comfortable journey. Perhaps, SMRT could make announcements requesting passengers not to indulge in such acts.

Firstly for those who aren’t street-wise enough, it is called ‘bump back‘. Or at least that’s what me and my friends coined the term.

Secondly, I can’t believe it that someone is actually complaining about this issue? I mean people like me do this act to guarantee our seats in the expense of wasting a few precious minutes. And we pay the fare that’s deemed fit by the SMRT gantries. So what’s the matter?

If the complain-er wants seats, and has seen people bumping back which was leading to why he/she didn’t get the seats when at Raffles Place/ Tampines, then go ahead and do the same thing ah! Who’s stopping you? Your conscience? You’re afraid of being called a fare-cheater or free-rider huh?

Gosh people only know how to complain when the solution to the problem is right in front of their eyes. Life really works in mysterious ways.

Thon-ing (read: overnight) at East Coast Park is not really a good idea some times especially when the next day happens to be a public holiday. While it’s nice to see that life hasn’t slowed down even though my watch says 3.30am, a few god-damn things still managed to mar the serenity of the night.

I don’t get the logic of Singaporeans. The gahmen declared a 1st May a public holiday. Yet somehow there would be some locals who’d go around getting drunk instead of getting ample rest. That’s fine with me but be drunk at your own peril please. Don’t go around shouting at the wee hours of the morning and disturb the many baby-making tents along the coastline.

Drink to wind down, not drink to get drunk. When you’re drunk, everything becomes helpless to you and that feeling sucks. When you trouble other people and end up sleeping nowhere, does that help to drown your sorrows away?

Then there’s a small hit-and-run session between a group of Indians and Malays. They didn’t fight - maybe they did - but they all ran different directions after being caught in a wrangle. I don’t know who radioed for 2 police cars and an ambulance but it sure did make 4.30am, looked like 4.30am.

I felt sad, disgusted, ashamed, angry at the Malay community especially the youth who do nothing good and everything else that’s bad. It’s so unfortunate that they happen to be in my generation.

Going around in their fancy little bicycles, being in the-larger-the-better groups, making hell of a noise and breaking loose in scuffles and fights. The funniest part is that there are Malay girls who like these macho and brave guys. *pukes at description* Not that’s not the funniest, they actually see a future with these guys. Hmm… still not funny. They actually carved a future with these guys! *Bang!* shotgun.

I can tell you that these Malay youths are big-time cowards. They thrive in numbers but when they go up alone, they shit in their pants. And that’s why I respect the Chinese and Indian gangsters. No denying that they’re lurking around right? One more thing that they deserve my respect - if you don’t disturb them, they won’t disturb you.

My watch beeped to indicate it’s 5am in the morning, and my friends and I resumed our game of Bluff. “Honesty will prevail,” says Wan. Yeah right, he was the biggest liar of us all.

Playing soccer at the Cage@ECP at midnight made me damn shagged. I slept through Labour Day. Now I’m wondering if I’ll be wide awake later at night.
