I’ve been playing this game for close to 2 weeks now (thanks Jiahong!) and it has somewhat been a love-hate relationship for me. You can know more about the game here.
I dare say that this game deserves no introduction. Yes you read that right. If you were an ardent follower since the CM days, then you’ll know about it. Else, you can just stick to your World of Warcraft or Maplestory (do people still playing it now?).
Few people like the ardous task of scouting for players, changing tactics, and grooming youth players to become potential superstars for the 2020/2021 season. After all there’s always FIFA or PES to create that Dream Team or do those wonderful tricks.
So anyway, a few grips that I have about FML are that…
1] If you join the game late, and no one is of the same level as you, it’s kinda hard to churn those (positive) results. I always kena thrash one. So much for playing the beautiful game. Sian.
2] No more bidding $50 million pounds for David Silva ’cause he’d probably be worth only $5 million? I miss that flurry of throwing away your riches.
3] Is it a bug or did Sega intentionally make this scenario happen to balance things out - you can have 10 chances and score no goals but the opposition needs just one chance to sometimes put the game beyond doubt.
4] Most probably you gotta pay a small amount of money every month to play this game. Pretty much like WoW. Dammit. I wanna play for free.
But the concept is refreshing though. Playing against ‘managers’ all over the world and building your team for scratch. So nobody is ever gonna take over Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United and get a transfer kitty of $30 million pounds.
Then there’s the part where you need to learn all the necessary skills. Frustrating but I guess it’s to give you more choices as to which path you wanna take when you start off as a manager.
I realized I’m getting pretty close-knitted to my squad. Since all of them are ‘nobodys’, I had to take time to know every one of them. Now we are all… family.

The game has sure come a long way since then. Why the hell did that bloke appear on the cover anyway?
