There’s a silver lining behing every black cloud

“My uncles, former SP students, used to say that the SB hill is like Beverly 90210 (pardon the generation gap). Slowly I understood why. The skimpy clothes, the girls, the hunks, the lifestyle.”

Going into a semester with no exams and little projects, doing up my portfolio was my biggest and most tedious (and most expensive) project. 5 hours of sleep in 2 days. Not a nice ratio at all.
Come tomorrow, NCT will be done. And then we’ll enter the last week of school.
Now that’s worthy of mourning.
After 1 hectic week, my Hari Raya celebrations is almost done. At most now, I wait for people to come over to my place and not vice versa. Some families take 2 weeks and more just to complete their OWN family visits. I’ve never heard of those who took the whole month though.
I felt that this year’s celebrations are quite toned down. Plus the fact that I’m a bit more matured (note: not old), I don’t really look forward to visits this time round. Never mind that I don’t get green packets as much as previous years. Apparently, my goatee is to be blamed. Bad goatee…

My results weren’t exactly horrendous. But I guess I just expected too much.
With a GPA harbouring around the 3.0 mark, I guess I can finally say goodbye to entering universities.
My ears bleed when I hear Engineering and Science students getting GPAs of 3.8 and 3.9. And words like “my friend nearly got a perfect score leh! She only got a few mistakes. That’s why her GPA is 3.999999999999999″
It helps if you have a model answer and every answer that you give is either a right or a wrong. There’s no Content or Language component to be marked on, or even Style and Spelling and Grammar and Sentence Structure and Vocabulary in the marking scheme.
It just ain’t gonna happen for Language students, right?
Aye, on a positive note, I only have 2 modules next semester and after that I’m off to do my internship. And I God bless me with a decent company.
Sigh. The positive doesn’t seem to look positive these days.

So did they get the idea from the Tiger Beer’s catchy jingle of ‘What time is it?‘
But ultimately, I think the ‘Who is Adam King ?‘ ad campaign is much more tasteless.
I’m still undecided whether to go for advertising or writing for my internship. I wanted to apply for a some companies a few weeks back but somehow my heart says no. I trust my intuition a lot these days. So I guess I’ll wait for Mr Ang’s recommendation then.
Sheesh… the thought of going for internships is fun but scary. I wanna get a good company but not do sai-kang work; have good friends but not those who’ll adopt office politics and backstab me; have a good time but at the same time not compromising my work.
After all, my internship is worth 17 CREDIT POINTS yo! Can you imagine the consequences if I get less than an A?
I can’t have the best of all worlds but I’ll pray hard that I’ll get through it in one piece and with a smile on my face. Insya allah.
