Well let’s see… I go by the online moniker of Fitree, courtesy of my email address which has lasted me ever since I signed my first Internet plan with Pacific Internet. And the name stuck with me ever since. My real name can actually be deciphered from my online moniker - they sound similar. Go figure.

I started blogging back in my secondary school days when I was an angsty, immature teenager (I still am now) who sees my blog as an avenue to rant anything that irks my heart. Those were the days when my disclaimer reads “This is my blog. If you don’t like what I write, feel free to close this window now.”

It still applies right now actually. Just that I practise a little self-filtering before my fingers type themselves away. I respect those who deserves it and ditto to those who is worth the mention, be it good or bad.

You know how people play The Sims or Second Life to take on another persona? That’s pretty much the case in fi-tree.com, except that my online persona is pretty much me in reality. I’m not gonna pretend to be Adam Brody or Brad Pitt behind the screen.

If you see a difference between the two personas, that’s just my writing style doing its job at its best.

I’m thankful that my love for writing had brought me thus far. I wrote from the now-defunct www.fitree.blogspot.com to fitree.wordpress.com right up to the current fi-tree.com. I guess my lack of understanding in numbers as well as interest in terms such as effervescence and mitochondria pretty much contributed to the tilt towards languages.

Be a good sport

Being the typical guy who lives in the numerous HDB flats in Singapore, I could have never escaped soccer. Why? ’cause people either play it at void decks or the open fields nearby. I was innocently supporting Geylang United way back from 1996 but now I am a silent supporter of them.

Instead, I became an ardent fan of Manchester United. It is just another thing that came naturally to me. Girls were just going ga-ga over a certain David Beckham at that time and I couldn’t just sit idle, right?

But really I was impressed with the Treble in 1999, Fergie’s Fledgings, the Busby Babes and Sir Alex Ferguson himself. The rest, blame the local papers for giving so much exposure to the English football. Even more than the local S-League. Tsk.

Where paper is more expensive than money

Currently I’m in Singapore Polytechnic, still praying hard that I will get my hands on that Diploma in Media and Communication in a few months time. Graduate liao lor! On 29 May 2008! Now on the way to Tekong on 12 September 2008. Hoot dah!

Just a few years ago, I was running around aimlessly in Da Qiao Primary School. Then at Mayflower Secondary School, I realized that running only applies when you are late and your DM is standing at the main gate with a cane in his hand.

In Poly, I started to stroll but I think I better start running again before my Officer in NS starts running for me.

The future holds the key

My long term goal is to write till God-knows-when. I hope my true love for a pen will never be broken. Perhaps I will tell my life story as I go through my National Service, university days, working life and may be one day, my wife’s and kids’ pictures will even be up here.

But then again maybe not. Who knows by that time I would have published an autobiography book of myself.
Till then, let me pen down my own accord of what goes through my life and be one of the million bloggers in this humongous blogosphere… with the basis of no lies, just half-truths.

Wanna cuppa?
