I’ve been watching a few movies lately, off my PC of course, ’cause I wanna catch up with those that I missed previously. Being a poor movie buff is seriously not a recommended career in Singapore.

And I just felt like doing one of those movie reviews that has rating systems which makes no sense.

5 stars - Don’t blink. I said, don’t even blink.
4 stars - You can eat your popcorn. Periodically.
3 stars - Go answer your nature call, even when it didn’t ring.
2 stars - You wanna go ask the usher for his/her number?
1 star - Go make out with your partner at the back row.

So the first one was School of Rock…

I know it’s a 2003 show but I liked it so much back then. So I watched it again and I realized… yeah, I liked it so much back then. It was kinda dry on the re-run. Laughter was almost non-existent despite the nature of the show.

Go make out with your partner at the back row.

But thank God for Juno!

Was this on the mainstream movie screens? I really don’t remember. I mean it’s a Picturehouse-like film but it damn deserved to be watched by all. Pretty much like Little Miss Sunshine. A simple plot, strong acting, awesome soundtrack. I heart it.

Plus I find Ellen Page, the main female character (as seen in pic above), an effing hot actress in the movie. Maybe it’s her witty character or the attitude she had towards life.

Girls with brains… gosh, what a rarity I’m a sucker for it.

This song, proves that you don’t need good vocals to make it sound nice. Just pure sincerity from the heart.

Don’t blink. I said, don’t even blink.

Next was CJ7…

I’ve always liked Stephan Chow’s films. It’s not that I selectively watch his productions but he has one long list of movies man! Amongst them, I choose Kung Fu Hustle to be one of my faves. I still remember hesitating whether or not to watch it while queuing up for tickets and boy, did I make the right decision.

CJ7, truth to be told, made me tear at some parts of the story. While the ‘green alien ball’ is fictional, the rest of it pretty much portrays reality. It’s one of those films that has “And the moral of the story is…” embedded in it. Touching and meaningful.

The boy (as seen in pic above) can really act! And I bet he’ll be some handsome, young prince when he grows up. But after watching this movie… don’t you wonder why they say Teletubbies do come to life at night hmmm?

You can eat your popcorn. Periodically.

And soon, I’ll be posting up Part II which will consist of more… updated movies. Meanwhile, I need to draw up another “Movies to Watch” list.
