For the first time in a few years, I bought myself an album. A music album. Jamie Scott’s.

The last time I remembered getting one, it was from Popular bookstore and a compilation of rock songs - Modern Rock 2 - where you’ll find the tunes of Linkin Park’s Crawling and Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavoured Water.

Since (not) downloading was considered (not) cool back then, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and shared my love my music with many other people. Well hey, who doesn’t like free stuff right?

Anyway a short visit to Gramophone just now made me zoomed to Jamie Scott’s album while Babe was eyeing on Adele’s. Perhaps yesterday’s introduction to his “Standing in the Rain” made me want to hear more of him.

The album was discounted to $16.90 but a quick check on other racks caught my attention.

The very same album and now it costs $9.90 ONLY! A 5-second time lapse couldn’t have possibly prompted a drop in prices right? This is not Wall Street! But upon closer inspection it has Chinese characters scribbled on the album cover which I thought urm okay, they must have Chinese-fied Jamie Scott’s songs.

So I checked with a staff and he said it was lower-priced ’cause it was manufactured in another country (cheap labour, I thought?). He warned me that the sound quality may be a bit different but being the cheapskate me, I don’t really care…

’cause now I’m listening to Jamie Scott’s album which I think is perfectly fine. At the price of $10. English as it is.

Sheesh I’m on the hunt for cheap albums now. Chinese-fied, Indian-fied, Malay-fied also can lah!
