actually i think all these manufacturers are just playing some kind of a game with consumers. I bet they can eliminate noise at ISO200 or even go down to ISO50 ’cause older film SLRS can do so and why not cameras nowadays right?

anyway i saw the entries of you playing around with DSLRs. one thing for sure once you touch them, you’ll shun all these prosumers.

i wanna own a DSLR too but money.. urgh is the root of all evil.

I own the older sibling of the FZ-18… The super old FZ-5.

The camera has served me well, and I have no problems with it for casual shooting and 4R prints… But… Having played around with other prosumers and DSLRs, here’s what’s lacking with mine :

1) ISO 100 is relatively noisy. ISO 200 wah ran, almost cannot tahan. But then again, maybe it’s because I’m spoiled with DSLRs’ “butter smooth” picture quality…

2) Auto-focus response time is quite slow… Really hard to capture fast-action stuff. You’ll find out what I mean in my upcoming blog entry. Heh.

3) Longest exposure is 8 seconds only! _-_

Other than that, my FZ-5 is a good starter camera. I believe the FZ-18 has a max shutter speed of 60 seconds now… Wheeee!

I can’t afford a dslr now ah… maybe when money comes in the form of paychecks then i’ll get one? ’cause there’s drybox, lenses and many other stuff to buy.
