T3 is a name of a pimple cream, right?

T3 didn’t really meet my expectations, really. Yes, I expected Bangla workers doing some touch-up works and more locals rather than tourists. After all only the locals, like me and Babe, are as kiasu to be touring the place even before it officially opens on 9 January 2008.

If you had not known, T3 is already open! Just don’t expect many airplanes at the Viewing Mall or shops to be fully operational. But there aren’t scaffoldings left unattended or wirings dangling from the ceilings either.

But after so much hype and spending millions on a spanking new extension, I really expected more than what I’ve seen.

If you think you’ll be lost, or want an exclusive preview of the areas inaccessible by non-ticket-buying-patrons, well… buy a ticket! At$3, you’ll get a guided tour that lasts for about an hour or so.

But my say is that the $3 can be better spent buying 2 scones over at Popeye’s which you’ll most probably gobble them up in less than 5 minutes. That’s what I call ‘worth the money’.

I have to say that the architecture will not fail to impress design-buffs but perhaps not an average Bala, John or Ahmad. At first look, I was wow-ed by the curves (or rather lack of it) and modern interiors. But pretty soon, Babe and me find ourselves picking out the things that we don’t like about T3.

It came out to be quite a long list, I must admit.

Perhaps it was new that it lacked the human factor. But even taking out humans out of the equation leaves us with the opinion that T3 was more for robots rather than human beings.

Perhaps it was my belief of simplicity that makes me unable to really appreciate such complicated designs that doesn’t really go easy on the eyes. T2 may be ‘new’ but at least I could accept its change from the legendary T1, which itself holds so many fond memories for me from the teary pilgrimage of close ones to picking Babe up from her Hong Kong trip.

Perhaps I’ll just wait till 9 January 2008.

Btw, anyone gone to the Budget Terminal yet?

I’m just quizzed by the fact that of all names… why ‘Budget Terminal’? I heard they even had a a competition on naming the then-new terminal.

Did a toddler win it by any chance?
