6 points shy of the perfect 300. One word - wow.
Back in my time (that was very, very long ago), I still remember playing my PS1 the night before I sat for one of my papers. My mum was nagging at me while she hung the laundry. But me being me, I continued playing. And her being her, knowing me being me, just couldn’t be bothered.
When results day came, I think she was more anxious than I was. All I knew was that I wanted to go into the Express stream, and into Anderson Secondary School, a top neighbourhood school in Ang Mo Kio.
My results had alphabets written all over (and last time still got A* okay!) which summed up to 230. Back then I never knew that alphabets plusminusmultiplydivide will give you a number. My teacher ever teach me. She very bad one.
I thought I could progress to a secondary school but I went back to nursery instead!
Okay, my point is I didn’t get into Anderson but went to Mayflower instead. Gay name, I know. But the flowers there are all very fierce. Ah Beng lah, Ah Seng lah, Ahmad lah… even the Ah Soh there scared.
But anyway, till now my PSLE score still remained unbeaten by my cousins. As much as I felt good about it, I still want it to be beaten. Next in line will be my sister who is taking her PSLE next year.
But by then I’ll be in Tekong already! Wah lau eh!

294 is crazy.
Don’t you agree with me that PSLE or “O” level scores are simply just numbers we use (do we still?) to compare with each other? I feel it means nothing actually.
Mayflower, lol!
