It has been three, almost four I think, long years since I last sit on the stool, and play a beat on a drumset. Infrequently, I would only pick my sticks up and do some sticking before letting them collect dust once more.

And I suddenly feel the urge to beat those tight skins again.

I’m not a good drummer. The fact that I can’t bring a drumset home and practise or had only two years of novice experience add to that fact. But ever since I was introduced to Mr Drumset, I never grew tired of it. That was waaaayyy back in my secondary school days where I was in the concert band. Now those memories are stored in the ‘My History’ folder.

I think not any Tom, Dick or Harry can appreciate drums. I mean it doesn’t create tunes; there’s a distinct lack of melody; no do re mi fa so. It is all about rhythm and beats. Period. Some people are born with it, some learn. Others just don’t get it.

I still tap my fingers to the beat of the songs blasting in my mp3. But somehow almost everyone with long hair, wearing skinny jeans and have their music plugged in are doing so too. I don’t know if they are all drummers but it’s nice to see people catching their own beat.

As for now, I think I’d just resort to watching Drumline as my remedy.
