SPUNK YOU!

There has been much controversy about SPUNK lately but in my humble opinion, it’s all just a case of over-reacting and over-hyped.

As you can see what SPUNK is, can you see what it really means? In fulfilling whoever’s wish to fuse SP and FUNK together, it has also managed to put together British slang which meant semen (read: men’s ejaculation). I thought it’d undergo tight scrutiny which will eventually lead to a change in the name.

And scrutinised it was but changed it wasn’t. Surprising but I thought it was nice for a fresh change. After all, SP has always been perceived as ‘old-fashioned, boring and not happening’. Right NP, TP, RP and NYP students?

But I don’t get it why SPUNK came into the (bad) limelight only after they pasted this poster all over school as their teaser campaign:

SPUNK, the cum shot, the words IT’S CUMMING. Get the chain-link?

I think it’s a very good design and concept by the design people (Hakim, Clarisse, etc? Great job guys!). I mean if SPUNK was approved then why get this poster under the microscope?

I know being so controversial is not THE way to be hip, cool and happening. But at least it’s leading to that path. Even the word ‘CUMMING’ in the poster has to be pasted over with a ‘CENSORED’ sticker now. You mean polytechnic students are so naive nowadays not to know what ‘cum’ actually mean?

SP Corp Comm people, I know you guys scan through blogs and whathaveyous and if you happen to read this, please convey this piece of my mind to the relevant people…

yes, it seems rather ironic that people do not really mind the big detail (hint; spunk) but they tend to be more stringent to little little details (hint; cumming).
it’s like telling me that that blackforest cake(yummy) is mine but i cant eat it(damned!), you know?
anyway, kudos to design team for an innovative & thought-provoking poster that evokes quite a bit of humor and SPUNK! i like it very very much.
i guess, this matter is blown out of proportions! (: anyway fitri, some people just can’t appreciate art & humor (:
and oh, about my blog, i’ll inform you should i decide to open the blog up to public again.. at the moment, i dont want its contents to be under the scrutiny of some people undeserving.

fi3: hahaha! you seem to be bouyed by their advertisement! but seriously, I think they put up a pretty a gd shot too. nothing provocative or whatsoever. okay, maybe a bit but it’s still acceptable.

ehh your blog got attacked by some unwanted ppl ah recently? i thought you password-protect it ’cause… you just want it to be so. now ever since blogger has that function, lots of ppl follow suit. tell me yeah!

re: my blog, ahahhah. nola. in my 4 years of blogging, i have been attacked twice only la (which i think is a low rate, hehe!). but in these attacks, i treat my attackers with so much kindness that they dont attack again(seriously! i was kind okay!). i mean what for be rude back to the person and stoop to their level(okay, my engrish koyak here), right?

niwaes, i realised last year, i tend to blog to meet the needs of my readers so as to ensure that they constantly come back to my blog for more; that is to say i was hungry for readership. and then i realised, that is so not me. i’ve always blog to pen MY feelings(for MYSELF) and since when that changed to blogging for others?

so on and off last year i’ve been changing my urls so as to ensure that only the minimal of people knew about its existence. can you believe it? within 5 months i changed 4 urls? bleah. it was so tedious cos somehow people manage to find my blog and tag(they tag normal stuff, just that i dont want to convert back to becoming a blogger who was hungry for readership!)

thanks to blogger, i’ve been using this function! i tend to blog differently when lesser people view it. cos when the masses reads my blog, i’ve to think when i say this or that, will it offend other people who i dont mean to offend?) yea. so troublesome.

fi3: that issue came did come to my mind quite a couple of times lah. sometimes I rant and brag so much that I think back and ask myself “there are ppl reading all these.” so i (try to) write on what THEY wanna read. but then I came to a point where I find asking myself “this is MY blog. it’s supposed to be MY avenue, MY space.”

oh well… I guess it’s a matter of balance lah. from there just write with your own style. wahh I speak as if I’m so pro at this. cheh!

i know this is basi news and all but yeah, i just wna say i agree with you - cut some slack, SP!
think the CSI-esque teaser poster is really clever, too. though i don’t remember seeing it around. must have been walking ard school with my eyes closed, haha.
one more thing - this is actually the first time ive been here, but you know what? like the way you write.
way to go.

fi3: how can you not see it? I thought it’s pasted ALL OVER SP, at strategic places some more! if you go to Dover MRT and you pass by the security guard counter, you SHOULD spot it ah.
